The Lund Science Center in Sweden represents a modern paradigm in STEM education and public engagement with science. Conceived in collaboration with Atelier Brueckner and architectural practice Cobe, the project establishes a world-class science communication hub within Science Village Scandinavia in Lund.
The scenographic concept bridges cutting-edge Swedish scientific breakthroughs (such as MAX IV Laboratory and ESS) with intuitive hands-on experiments for all age groups. Visitors embark on exploratory journeys through natural sciences, optics, quantum physics, and sustainable energy.
The architecture and exhibition design operate as a unified pedagogical apparatus: light wells, timber structures, and tactile exhibit pods guide visitors from microscopic atomic phenomena to macroscopic cosmos explorations.
Meeting Science: Architectural & Scenographic Union
The spatial choreography blends COBE’s sustainable timber architecture with Atelier Brueckner’s narrative scenography. Expansive open spaces and tiered galleries facilitate fluid circulation between permanent galleries, lecture auditoriums, and interactive lab stations.
Interactive Hands-on Science Landscapes
Custom-engineered interactive stations invite visitors to physically manipulate optical lasers, test fluid dynamic forces, and simulate clean energy grids. The design translates complex scientific data into accessible, multi-sensory explorations.
